Watched this documentary today. I couldn't hold back the tears. We are so spoiled here in the U.S. We complain about the economy and how rough we have it. I don't think we realize how blessed we are and that we need to help others and share our blessings. This also reminded me to be grateful for the simple things and to appreciate my family. It was sweet when Carlos' father expressed his love for his children and family at the end of the film and to see the sacrifice Carlos had made to help his family. When we were up in Ogden one Sunday looking at houses, we saw many Mexican families at a park playing baseball together. It was very touching to see how close knit they are. There are always two sides of the coin when it comes to immigration. These types of stories need to be told so that people can see that there are many hardworking people here trying to help and support their families too. Something needs to be done with the situation in Mexico and also on the indian reservations which are 3rd world countries in their own right as well. I think education and job opportunities are the biggest factors in making things better. I think the church has a perfect model with the perpetual education fund, using microloans for small businesses, and teaching skills for financial independence. Building more schools and those that gain knowledge there, then pay it forward by teaching others and mentoring them.
